This is a first for me, Nik usually writes all the blog posts but I did this wedding on my own so it’s all up to me…. sorry in advance.
I had great light at the Mercure in Port Macquarie where the girls where getting ready, I find myself there a lot now. They have brilliant open rooms and a large roof top reception area which are both great for the way we love to take photos.

It is so easy to do your job when you walk into a room that is relaxed and well organised, Ashlee had every thing in hand so while Kristy-Lee (owner of Krisilize Hair ) was finishing the hair it gave me a chance to use the natural light to get some great detail shots.
Ashlee and David chose Cassegrains for the ceremony, which is another one of my favourites. The formal garden and the cellar are visually very dynamic places to shoot. It’s great to see how much the place changes. Every time I go there seem to be a new place to shoot.

The ceremony was lovely as they shared the start of their married life together with daughter Eady.
Due to some bad weather (which I love, make great photos, don’t be afraid of it) we sped up our plans, and did beach and town green photos quickly in very low light. Back to the roof top at the Mercure Centro and had fun with a great band “Mum says Rock” see you at the next wedding guys.
I hope I haven’t been too boring to read, I’m the technical guy, the one Nik turns to when she has an idea like “lets have a blog on our website…. make that happen.” yes dear. She is usually the blog writer, a great photographer and I love her heaps.

I love listening to the speeches. It is when we really get to hear how the bride and groom met. All the fine details are told and usually there is someone taking credit for setting the two up.

During the speeches we found out that Matthew and Kylie both lived in Taree at the same time yet ventured further afield to find the night life. It was during of the night adventures in Forster that Matt and Kylie were introduced to each other and as they say, the rest is history.

This is a couple that are perfectly matched. We have only had the pleasure of knowing them as they planned their wedding day but from those few brief encounters, Jason and I could both see one very content couple. Their wedding day was perfect. It suited them, it showed their love and everyone had a grin from ear to ear as they thoroughly enjoyed the day.

I love Kylies attention to detail. I love her planning. I love her researching.  She had a perfect red love heart balloon in the car with them and I almost squealed with delight when I found out she wanted to use it in their photos. She had seen one used before on the internet. The balloon photos are totally my style. My idol photographers use props like these in their photos and I have been hoping someone would totally get the idea and want that style for themselves. Thank you so much Kylie for letting me capture such perfect shots. xo

We have one of the best jobs in the world. We get to document of the most important days of a persons life. All the dreaming, planning and creating comes together on one day. It all has to be perfect. So many hours have been spent making every last detail a work of art and we get to document it all. It is a huge responsibility to document a wedding, something that is not taken lightly by any means. It is an honour to be invited into someones special day and each wedding still gives me goosebumps at some point.

Lori & Rhys had the most perfect wedding day. They both repeatedly told us how much fun their wedding day was, how relaxed and carefree their photos were. They wanted to document their day and their love of course, but they also wanted to enjoy every moment and have time to relax with family and friends. That was our brief and that was what we delivered. We worked quick but precise. We had fun and documented memories. We created art but ensured the bride and groom weren’t infront of the camera the whole time.

It was an amazing wedding. St Marys is stunning, such a beautiful church. I have found my next must visit and that is the Silo Restaurant & Lounge. As soon as I saw the red wall, I got why Lori & Rhys loved it. The food was impeccable, the perfect place for a long dinner with friends.

The reception was at Longworth House. It is the perfect reception venue. The service was second to none, the food was incredible but my favourite feature was the building itself. Every room has character. I loved the way the reception was designed. All formalities were conducted upstairs. The meals were served, the cake was cut, the speeches were made, and once the dancing was ready to begin, everyone ventured downstairs  to dance the night away with the band while sampling all the amazing treats on the lolly bar. It was the perfect arrangement.

Lori & Rhys, every detail of your wedding was amazing. The way your planning came together is so admiring. You have both created the perfect wedding day and I know you loved every minute. I hope you are enjoying an amazing honeymoon, you deserve all the happiness in the world. xo

Amanda & Robbie saw their photos today and this is the beautiful message I received this afternoon:

“We just love the photo’s, you guys do a fantastic job, and we are so happy to have you both be apart of our wedding day.”

I just love to hear how happy our clients are with their images. We always strive to exceed expectation and it is great to hear feedback. We met Amanda and Robbie in Newcastle on the weekend after we saw Lori & Rhys. We have the honour of photographing Amanda & Robbies wedding later this year and I am eagerly looking forward to their day.

We photographed Amanda’s sisters wedding a little while back and since Amanda & Robbie have added little Brodie to their family. Brodie is the biggest charmer!! He was posing and hamming it up to the camera like you wouldn’t believe.  He is mega handsome and I can just imagine how unbelievably gorgeous he will be in a suit for the wedding. I think I know who may steal the show !!

The world of email now means that a lot of our correspondence is done over the internet. Sometimes even though you only correspond via email you can tell someones personality just by the way they write. Lori booked us without ever having see us face to face. That is not all that uncommon these days but it still makes gives me BIG smiles when people do as it shows us our work really sells itself.

Lori’s bridesmaid put her in touch with our website after my brother told Lori’s bridesmaid that his sister is a wedding photographer, did you get all that !! So a big thanks to my brother for bragging to the world about us and to Lori’s bridesmaid who I will soon meet. Lori said when she saw our website she loved our work and made the decision very quickly (BIG SMILES) !!

So back to my first statement about emails. I could tell Lori was a beautiful person just from the way she wrote her emails. I predicted a bubbly personality who was going to be a lot of fun. That is exactly who I met on the weekend. She is all of those things and more. Rhys compliments her so well, they both compliment each other and are perfect. They are both very much in love and are going to have the most beautiful wedding.

It was so good to meet you Lori and Rhys. We had a great time with both of you and we are very excited about your wedding. We will see you in a couple of weeks !!

Sunday afternoon was engagement time and after photographing Lauren and Adam, we headed out to meet Ashley and Kirby at Ashley’s parents property. Amongst the delicious autumn colours and soft sunlight, we got to know a little about this beautiful couple. They were instantly attracted to each others eyes and it is evident they still are. They look at each other with love filled eyes and the little giggles they share let us see how relaxed they are with each other.

Thanks for showing us the property on Sunday guys. It is  a gorgeous backdrop for the upcoming wedding. You were both gorgeous infront of the camera - so simple, carefree and relaxed. xo
