I am super excited so I have to share with you straight away. IT’S A GIRL !!!!!!!

Blog followers will know that I have been sharing in Skii and Jacob’s experience of bringing their little bundle into the world. You will remember her pregnancy post (if you want a refresher click here), now I have an update that the surprise package was indeed a little girl.

This little one already has a schedule of her own and she arrived fashionably late, exactly 2 weeks overdue. On Friday Skii let me know they were inducing her and I had my fingers crossed extra tight that she either came quickly or held off as yesterday we photographed the wedding of Matthew and Kylie. Throughout their magical wedding day I had my phone close to see how things were going. Just before the bridal waltz I had the call that bub was almost here and a wonderful Kylie told me to hurry quickly, I didn’t realise she had been following Skii’s journey as well !!

So while Jason finished photographing their formalities I made the entrance to the hospital and exactly 18 minutes later little Bella Rose arrived to the world. I absolutely love this facet of my job. It is not work at all, it is amazing, it is breath taking and it is emotional every single time. I know birth photography is not for everyone and when I mention I do it I get a very mixed reaction, this however is why I love it. These images are priceless.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart Skii & Jacob for allowing me to document Bella’s arrival to the world. You are both amazing parents already and she is unbelievably gorgeous. For the blog followers there will be an interview with Skii to come telling you her side of the story but that will come in due time. Right now this new family are basking in pure joy.

Today I witnessed the arrival of a new life. At 5.22pm a little girl entered the world and I was privileged enough to capture it. As I say every time, I LOVE birth photography. It is not for everyone. Some people cringe when I tell them what I do. For those who are open to the idea and want the emotion, the intimacy and the love captured, it is something they treasure forever. Everyone has told me they are so glad that I was there and I love every mother who has brought a bub into the world and allowed me to be a part. It is one of the most amazing things I will ever do.

Meet Siennah Kate. She was one girl who is very alert and very content. I barely heard a peep from her the whole time and the little noises she made melted my heart. Thankyou Mum and Dad for allowing me to be a part of your little girls arrival. I never admitted it to you, but I shed a few tears hiding behind the camera when you first saw her.

It is so true that babies have their own time schedule and nothing is more true of this little man. I took belly shots of Mum only a couple of weeks ago and lucky we did as he decided to make a very grand arrival 4 weeks early!

We had arranged that I was going to photograph his arrival and when I got the phone call on Tuesday morning to say Krystles waters had broken, I was first shocked that he was coming so early, and then hoping he would take a little while to arrive so I could get better to get to the hospital in time as that was the day I was unable to move in bed. (What great timing !!!)

Well he did take his time to arrive. A whole 44 hours to arrive. Nothing like a quick arrival! I was in contact with regular updates of how Kryslte was labouring and we were guessing roughly when the action would really kick in. Unfortunately this little man had a different agenda and was very ontent of staying inside.

After a long labour, it was decided the best thing was a c-section as things weren’t going to plan. So we didn’t get to have our planned birth photos, but I did go up within the first 48 hours to take some adorable photos of this little guy. He is such a cutie !! He has gorgepus skin and eyes to die for. He is so alert and for a premmie bub is doing perfectly. He is in with his Mum feeding perfectly and being a perfect little boy.

A massive congrats Krystle and Josh. Welcome to the world little Liev. A gorgeous  2770 grams and 46cm long. We will be doing his newborn shoot as soon as Mum and bub are ready and I can’t wait !

I love photographing the arrival of a baby into the world. It is the most magical experience and I feel so honoured when I am allowed to be a part of this amazing process. I have photographed a few now and it is a something I love to do. It is what keeps me alive and inspired. Something that pushes the boundaries in the sense that you have to have your camera settings spot on, you have to be able to blend into the background, you have to know that you can get it right perfectly every single shot.

I only shoot with available light in the delivery room. I ensure I am not seen by anyone and never in the way. NOTHING is scripted. Everything is exactly the way it is happening and that is why the raw emotion shows. I really, really love birth photography.

This is one of the births I have photographed. I have been given permission to share these and thankyou very much Loz for allowing me. You are inspirational. !!

9 days of pure beauty. This precious girl did everything perfectly. She slept, curled, pouted and grinned all in the right places.

This is the adorable shots you can capture when bubs are brand spanking new. Within the first 10 days is the ideal time to capture newborn freshness. Generally speaking, little bubs sleep, curl and allow me to manipulate them easier within that first week and a half … but I am up for a challenge as they get older !

And these two last shots …. I always like to challenge myself and try new things. We were all in hysterics at Ellas reaction. I think the results were so worth the persistence.

Baby Laine has arrived

July 24, 2008

Do you remember the pregnancy photos i did for E almost two weeks ago? Her little man arrived on Monday morning and they allowed me to be a part of his magical arrival. I made it to the hospital with just four minutes to spare before he made his grand arrival !! It was an amazing experience and this is when being a photographer can be so rewarding. Stay tuned for his newborn shoot very soon.
